From Tuesday morning at 6am, Fran Kelly makes a return to Radio National Breakfast. RN Breakfast is regarded as the breakfast programme for the movers and shakers. It’s the place to go for a substantial round of politics, business, international affairs…and a bit of fun.
It’s great to see Fran back this week…best of luck to her for 2008.

Muse has taken out the #1 slot in the 2008 TripleJ Hottest 100, following a record number of votes. They beat Aussie band ‘SilverChair’ by just 13 votes.

Dr Ron Brunton, who has been a controversial member of the ABC’s board is about to depart the organisation.
His term will come to an end in just 3 months, and will give the Rudd Government it’s first opportunity to make an appointment to the ABC Board, since it formed government in late November.
Dr Brunton’s appointment was criticised due to his conservative background. This criticism was to continue for several years as the former Coalition government made repeated appointments to the board from conservative ‘Cultural Warriors’, who were often some of the largest critics of the ABC.
It will be a test of the new government to see if it can avoid making a ‘political’ appointment. During the election campaign the Labor Party promised to make board appointments fairer….it will be interesting to see if that promise is fulfilled.

From Monday, 4th February, ABCtv is undergoing one of its most fundamental changes in its 52 years: changing it’s name! The channel will be known as ‘ABC1′ and will be relaunching an all new presentation package to coincide with the renaming, timed for the start of the official ratings period.
The purpose of the revamp was to acknowledge the increasingly dominant digital environment, as well as to emphasise the presence of ABC2, as well as the forthcoming ABC3.
ABC2 will also be getting a refresh on the same day, with new logo, presentation and schedule.
ABC1’s slogan will be ‘It Begins With a 1′, while ABC2 goes with ‘Bring Out The 2 In You’
UPDATE: It is now appearing more likely that the relaunch will take place on Monday the 11th Feburary. (2 dates from 2 sources!) I will bring you more confirmation as soon as it happens.
